Foursquare Doctrine

The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel was founded in 1923 in Los Angeles, California by Aimee Semple McPherson. McPherson’s vision for the Foursquare church was to establish a church deeply rooted in Biblical scripture, yet versatile enough to bring the good news of gospel and meet the spiritual needs of a  changing culture and global community.

The Foursquare Church derives its’ name from the four biblical roles of Jesus Christ as Savior (Romans 10:9), Baptizer with the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:16), Healer (1 Peter 2:24), and Coming King (Acts 1:11). The Foursquare Church also recognizes and strongly emphasizes that “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Our name portrays the everlasting ministry of Jesus Christ upon which our church is founded and called to proclaim to an ever-changing world.

We also believe in establishing a strong sense of community within our church. We believe in encouraging one another in our journeys of faith, and welcoming each individual who walks through our doors with love and grace. The Foursquare Church thrives to create an atmosphere that is comfortable, yet also one that encourages growth in each individual’s relationship with God.

Welcome to the Foursquare Church
